Fantastic Experience Which Included an Excellent Tasting Session at the End of the Tour

点评：Excellent experience touring the Jose Cuervo Distillery otherwise known as the Fábrica La Rojeña which is the oldest surviving distillery in Latin America. It is located in the center of the charming town of Tequila which has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We arrived on a Monday afternoon without a reservation for a tour, but we were easily accommodated and signed up for a tour later that day allowing us to wander a bit around the town and eat lunch. The tour was excellent and clearly explained in step-by-step fashion how the distilling process worked. Some brief sampling of the different types of tequila is included in the tour. However, the highlight of our visit was the 45 minutes tequila tasting session that we added on to our tour. It cost $560 MXN vs $330 MXN for the regular tour, but it made our whole experience. The tasting included their flagship tequilas: silver, reposado and añejo and involved a relatively small group of 12 people in a classy tasting room. It was not rushed and made for a very personal and relaxed experience. The tasting was very fun and informative, and I learned a lot about the intricacies of enjoying tequila. There was no pressure to buy anything in the shop at the end of the tour, but I enjoyed myself so much in part as I was now filled with tequila that I bought a bottle of premium tequila as a souvenir.
