点评：There are not many places where you can feed flamingoes but that is exactly what we did today at Bird Gardens Scotland, and a most surreal ‘Alice in Wonderland’ experience it was! Nose to beak with 10 extremely-tame, extremely-pink and extremely well-mannered Chilean flamingoes, this surely was a lunchtime with a difference! And we were well looked after by Owen, the Gardens’ enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable owner who hatched out these birds in his kitchen! Granted the Flamingo Experience is a slightly dearer offer than the usual admission fee but it does allow for 6 persons to attend and admission to the Bird Gardens is included, so it’s actually really good value for a family group of 6, but you do need to book ahead! We visit the Bird Gardens quite often (your admission ticket lasts for a whole year) and, regardless of the weather, there are always lots of birds (and wallabies!) to see. And every time we go, there are new species on display. We particularly like the large shared exhibit featuring flamingoes (of course!), emu, wallabies and a vast array of swans, geese and ducks, but there are multiple large aviaries as well, and don’t miss the huge cranes at the far end - this place is much bigger than it looks from the road! Great play area, a lovely warm cafe and a gift shop with unique, locally-produced gifts!
