点评:Aside from my Galapagos cruise, this was my favorite thing we did in Ecuador hands down. If you like authentic and educational experiences that also give you the opportunity to purchase beautiful, handmade goods directly from those making them, you will love this. While Miguel passed away a couple of years ago, his family continues the tradition of blackstrap weaving using yarns that they process naturally, dyed with plants and other things from nature. The tour is only $6 per person, and they walk you through their whole process. There were three generations of the family walking us through and demonstrating the process. Their studio is beautiful. The people are very friendly and warm. And their art is just gorgeous, surpassing anything we saw at the main Otavalo market by far. My only regret is not building in more time for shopping, as we had to rush to another activity we were scheduled for before I was finished. They have extensive inventory of things woven from alpaca and wool, from fine throws to wall hangings and everything in between. We had a bilingual guide with us to translate, but if you don’t have one and don’t speak Spanish I believe English tours can be arranged in advance. And definitely message them on WhatsApp before going so they are ready for you.
