点评:The museum itself looks magical. The deep reds, golds, carved wood, balconies, curtains, hidden corners. It feels like walking into a dream that somebody carefully maintained for a century.
There were several carousels we rode including a gondola and a people powered bicycle one that went soooo fast.
People are riding things. Laughing. Dancing.
The tour guide, Libert, was hilarious in a very cute yet dignified way.
That's why the museum resonated with me so strongly. It wasn't really about carousels. It was about people making something delightful together.
I edit a monthly community newsletter for Americans living in Brittany. One of our regular sections is called "The Lighter Side of Democracy," where we share interesting, humorous, and uplifting experiences that help build community and remind people that civic life is also about friendship, participation, curiosity, and joy.
As we were leaving the museum, I realized that several parts of the experience connected beautifully with those themes. The bicycle carousel in particular struck me as a wonderful metaphor for community participation.
I will write a future article about our visit. Probably in the August issue, but maybe in July.
I loved the plave and will be back!
