Barrels Ale House的点评
点评：Visited with a few pals on a Saturday afternoon. I had been wanting to take a look in here for a while, small bar area with a side room, both of which were quite brisk with a mix of locals and ‘tourists’.
Decent selection of beers and spirits behind the bar. Liked the fact a lot of the latter were not your usual bland run of the mill labels and some thought had gone into what they were offering Two guys serving behind the bar. Older guy was pleasant and friendly. The younger of the two with the beard seemed to have a constant growl going on and made (I guess anyone who wasn’t a local or regular) feel about as welcome as a fart in an astronaut suit.
Made the error of opting for the Titanic Plum Porter* (which drank and presented itself quite tired) instead of the excellent looking Guinness a couple of my pals had. Stayed for a second (I was still struggling with the dreary porter so opted out) but the welcome was getting as thin as the porter so we moved on.
If you are in the gang I guess it could be a canny little watering hole. I can say I have been.
* I am not a stranger to Titanic Plum Porter and if it’s on I would go for it. This one was just poor as if it was near barrel end.
