Small but informative
Zane Grey Museum的点评
点评：We were slightly early for the 10.00 opening, and it wasn't too hot out (yet), so we busied ourselves with getting the stamps that were on the front porch. There are just three NPS cancellations stamps but there are four stampers - there are two copies of the museum stamp itself.
There is also a box with unigrids. I don't remember which one(s), but there's also a booklet for Dolly's Garden Path, a walk around the fields of the property named for Zane's wife.
Though it was a few minutes early, the Ranger let in the house. There's a small shop to the left, and from a drawer the Ranger pulled out two Junior Ranger books - Upper Delaware and Delaware River Junior Ranger River Safety.
Though the house looks big from the outside, the second floor are offices. You get to see the first floor. Toward the rear left of the house is about Zane's early days, which mentions he was also a dentist in addition to an author and baseball player. He was also a traveler, too. and one of the things I liked is seeing period photographs of the room you're standing in because then I could compare it to the way it looks now.
You also get to see the living room, another room, and his study where he wrote.
No overview film, but there is a five minute video at one of the displays that interested my kid, talking about his works adapted to film. It's closed captioned too, which is nice.
All in all we spent maybe a half hour here. All depends on how fast a reader you are. As a standalone, I'm not sure I would go here just to see this (but then again, we live hours away and we try to bundle units together.) Still, we enjoyed the visit here, and since my kid is really into reading, I enjoyed talking with them about what Zane did.
