A Sleek, Modern Museum a Pleasant Walk from Old Town Chania

点评：This museum is definitely open in a sleek modern building. The admission included a very comprehensive audio tour. You have to request the small audio player at the desk where you pay but it is free with admission so there is no need to pay extra from a tour company. There weren't many visitors when we went at about 11:00 on a Wednesday so there were no lineups. It is located a scenic half hour walk from Chania's old town, mostly along the waterfront. The building is air conditioned with clean washrooms and an elevator.
The exhibits are very well done with detailed accompanying placards in fluent English. They are arranged in chronological groupings starting with prehistoric times and settlements then on to Minoan and more recent times. The reconstructed, colourful floor tie mosaics are gorgeous. The two tombs of soldiers were fascinating. There is a small cafe with a panoramic view of the sea. We spent about 2 hours there. Highly recommended.
