点评：We recently completed a 14-day private journey across Iraq — from Baghdad to the southern marshes and Basra, and then north through the breathtaking landscapes of Iraqi Kurdistan — and it was truly extraordinary thanks to our guide, Haidar, and our driver, Sadiq.
Haidar was exceptional: friendly, personable, immensely knowledgeable and thoroughly professional. His deep understanding of Iraq’s history, holy sites, ancient ruins and contemporary culture enriched every day of our trip. He navigated checkpoints with ease, managed all logistics seamlessly, and ensured we experienced far more than we ever could have on our own.
Sadiq was an outstanding driver. He guided us safely through the bustle of city traffic, narrow village roads, steep mountain passes and long travel days — all without using Google Maps, which was remarkable. He always found parking, knew every shortcut, and kept the journey calm, smooth and comfortable. His skill and quiet confidence made even the longest stretches feel effortless.
Together, Haidar and Sadiq were the perfect team. With their expertise, we explored the spectacular marshes, visited beautiful holy shrines, wandered through the ancient cities of Ur, Uruk, Babylon, Nimrud and Hatra, toured museums and bazaars, and saw the world’s largest cemetery. Everywhere we went, local Iraqis were warm, welcoming and genuinely pleased to see visitors. At all times, we felt safe.
We highly recommend Aknaf Alsawary Travel Agency and Haidar as a guide and Sadiq as a driver to anyone considering travel in Iraq. Their professionalism, kindness, humour and deep knowledge made this a truly unforgettable journey.
