Ancient ruins off the commercial circuit. Well worth the climb up and with a bonus waterfall.

点评：We walked to the ruins from the Colca Lodge Hotel. I think we turned off the road too early and ended up ascending a quite steep and rocky path that many might struggle with. It took us to the bottom of the site and it was only when we worked our way to the top that we came across a man in a hut wanting 5 Sol each for admission. There was also a better path leading up from the other direction. Unfortunately there is very little information about the site. Leaflets or information boards would certainly improve the experience. Nevertheless, it is well worth the climb up as there is plenty to see. Further up the path is a waterfall (even when just about everything else is bone dry). The path is quite steep and narrow at points and the dry sandy soil is slippery. It is worth the effort not only for the waterfall but for the great views of the ruins and the terraces below.
