点评：What a night, what a privilege, what a feeling!
A stellar performance by GBT. Had a drink before the show with a guy who last visited 50 years ago which demonstrates the fine tradition of this little theatre.
Hard to review this without missing someone out so forgive me if you don’t get a mention. Team work makes the dream work and this interpretation of Aladdin was a dream come true. Of course all the principals were superb, dame, villain, genies ( if you want a genie they have got one to spare) The minor genie was anything but. One of am. dram’s finest practitioners. It was like Alan Carr was in the room. Aladdin and Princess didn’t have much chemistry together but he was handsome and buff , she had a luminosity about her and a perfect pitch. They made it work beautifully.
Its always the little guys that make the show for me. The minions had the aww! factor and the dancing girls stole our hearts. I particularly liked the fan wings with the drum sticks used to beat a rhythm during the routine, but all the costumes were sublime. Widow Twanky’s finale dress was jaw dropping as was the suit worn by funny man Wishy Washy.
There were some amazing stunts . The flying carpet was simple but astonishing and magical. The lights and tricks ie, hand flame and firework to herald the entrance of the genie original and inspired.
Front and back of house were amazing on the night. I so rarely review the production team and writers but they deserves so much praise for creating this show and directing it so expertly. Dame you are my muse and a drag act to rival the late great Lily Savage.
