One of the Historic Sights In Tolentino's Main Square

点评：Those with only a few days in the Marche area will probably be busy visiting the more well known towns like Assisi, Urbino and Loreto but if, like us, you have a longer stay, then Tolentino is an interesting working town with a small handful of historic sights and some decent shopping.
The clock tower is best seen from the main square, Piazza della Liberta. It’s actually the belfry of the nearby Collegiata di San Francesco, which is around the corner from the piazza. However you need to stand in the piazza to see the clock faces.
It’s not a run-of-the-mill clock tower. It has 4 different clocks on the one tower.
One shows the phases of the moon, another shows "Italian hours", another is an astronomical clocking and the last one is a calendar clock.
To the left of the tower, is Palazzo Communale (still badly damaged from the 2016 earthquakes), and to the right is Palazzo Massi Porcelli, which houses Pasticceria Zazzaretta on the ground floor. This is where we go for a coffee or aperitivo.
NOTE: A trip to Tolentino is best combined with visits to the nearby Chiaravalle Abbey at Fiastra (15 minutes by car) and Rancia Castle (10 minutes).
