点评:Located in an old mill alongside other independent businesses, this museum is
unassuming yet packed with hours of nostalgia and fun.
I've visited a few times with children and adults. We always get a warm welcome and, whether it's digging out old Amiga games, remembering how to code in BASIC or trying to get past the second level of PacMan (I'm hopeless!), there's always something amazing to do and a group of really helpful staff to help you do it.
We usually spend around 4 hours in there - it's a perfect place to go on a rainy day during the school holidays. There's a small café with a decent choice and a little shop, too.
My daughter is always asking me to go back - she loves the VR games and making up silly games on the old BBC computers. It's good value and plenty to do.
I'm sorry to read that it's had a couple of negative reviews because I know how hard the staff work to keep the place as good as it is. It is in an old mill, the loos are on a different floor, and the carpark is not fully tarmacked. But that's the nature of where it is - nothing to do with the museum itself. The Spinners depends a lot on community investment to keep it running and a lot of work has gone into restoring the building so it is in use, rather than it just being left like so many old buildings are. I believe it's still a work-in-progress.
To anyone thinking of visiting the museum and who hasn't, honestly, just go and enjoy yourself. There's a reason why it's won awards.
