点评:I originally didn’t know you could tour the CIA, but apparently every other person in the world did. The auditorium was packed with about 60 people. The first 45 minutes or so of the tour is in the auditorium. You watch a series of videos. The first covers the history of the Culinary Institute. Then there is a chef-led video where he guides you through a tasting of things they place in front of you (grapes, jelly beans, salt, sugar, lime and sriracha). This portion was fun and interesting. The last video showcases well-known chefs who attended the CIA. The second 45-minute portion of the tour was walking around viewing the various kitchens, restaurants within the CIA and the dining hall. This part was okay. It would have been more fun if the group wasn’t so big. But with 20-25 people, it was difficult to see and hear the student guide, and when I could hear her, I couldn’t understand her. There is a somewhat overpriced gift shop. Parking is free. As the tour is only $15, it is worthwhile if you are at all interested in cooking.
