Although no re-enactment this year it’s still the most pristine Civil War battlefield in the country.

点评:This was the weekend that commemorated the actual battle of Perryville. Although the rules have changed for re-enactors in recent years that they now only have demonstrations and walking tours it’s still the most pristine battlefield in the country. Staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. I will admit this was one of the smallest events they have had. In fact there weren’t any food trucks and this was only a one-day event as opposed to the usual 2-day event weekend. On the plus side they have speakers/authors had offer some interesting lectures. Also this event and the small museum were free. Generally there is an admission fee when they have this special event. I guess since they didn’t actually have a re-enactment this time around the fee was waived. One more thing is our battlefield tour guide’s family was present during the actual battle. To get a perspective from someone whose family experienced the turmoil of the war was a bonus. You can’t beat that.
