点评：We have no words to express how deeply we loved our stay and tours with Pepe. My boyfriend and I first spent a night at the hotel and had an unforgettable whale-watching tour the following morning. Pepe knew exactly where to go to find whales, birds, dolphins, or any other incredible creature and breathtaking spot in Magdalena Bay. He is truly experienced and deeply passionate about the bay and its wildlife. As an ethical tour operator, he is highly respectful of whales and their environment while always striving to give people the best possible experience. His English is excellent, too.
On our first tour, gray whales glided beside the boat after surfacing all around us. After spending a few days exploring Baja and other lagoons, we decided to return to Pepe for one last adventure, hoping for an even closer whale encounter. And magically, it happened! The tour began on a misty morning, with thick fog. We couldn' see whales, but we could hear their breaths as they moved around us. It was an indescribable experience. Somehow, Pepe knew exactly where to find them, despite the limited visibility.
When the sun came.out, we passed a bird sanctuary where hundreds of birds were resting, filling the small island with life. And then, the whales appeared—many in the distance, some closer, until one swam right up to the boat, almost as if seeking attention. And we, of course, offered all the love we could! What an incredible, almost spiritual experience. I will always be grateful to Pepe for this.
But that wasn’t the end of our adventure. After the whales, we found ourselves in a spot teeming with dolphins—some peacefully swimming, others jumping high through the waves. Absolutely mesmerizing. And as if that wasn’t already magical enough, we continued toward the Pacific, where we spotted sea lions sleeping on the shore. On our way back, we passed the bird island once more, just in time to witness a breathtaking moment—the entire flock suddenly took flight in a majestic, synchronized chaos. It was nature’s raw power and beauty on full display.
And still, the surprises kept coming. We saw schools of sardines, stingrays, and even a lone coyote wandering near the sand dunes.
Those five hours were the most magical moments of our entire three-week journey through Baja California—something we will never forget. And it was all thanks to Pepe. Both he and his wife Jacibe are incredibly dedicated and genuinely kind people who do their work with love and passion.
They also manage the hotel with great care. The rooms are spotlessly clean, offering a charming view of the bay and a cozy patio with chairs to enjoy the sunset. Breakfast is delicious, and the shared space where guests gather feels just like home. The place itself is beautifully simple—its charm lies in its authenticity. There is no luxury here; the only glamour is nature itself.
The second time we returned for our final tour, we felt like we were coming home. And we loved that feeling. We’ll surely be back. In the meantime, we truly recommend anyone looking for a peaceful, welcoming, and heartfelt experience in Baja to visit Pepe and Jasibe in their little gem.
