One of Four Original Vintage Cinemas in Kampot (*not to be confused with Hotel Old Cinema, two streets away)

点评：The old Royal cinema is an unrestored vintage facade and structure which is the historical remnant of one of the four original cinemas in Kampot. It's not to be confused with the 'Hotel Old Cinema', which was actually called the '7 Makara' cinema before it was restored and turned into a hotel. It's not clear why affiliates, fans and visitors of the Hotel Old Cinema are seeking to adopt this particular TripAdvisor listing (including changing the original relevant URL) of the historical Royal cinema, as these are totally separate buildings two streets away from each other. Anyway, I first scouted this location in 2008 in anticipation of the film festival we were operating, the CamboFest, during which we refitted the Royal with a new digital projection system thanks to many grass roots supporters and volunteers. I'm still friends with the former Cambodian owner of the Royal, who happily sold it about a year ago so he could move his family out of the Royal structure and into a proper house in the countryside, and the new owners took off the collapsing roof and have gutted the interior, but the exterior is still standing as of August 2024.
