点评：My third trip to San Felipe and Mena Flyfishing. There are several attractions for the angler here. Number one is the numbers of tarpon in a variety of sizes inhabiting the water close to the hotel. Because of this, we could do split days...3-4 hours in the morning, then lunch/siesta, and back at them around 3-4p until dark. This is a huge attraction, like getting two fishing trips in one!
Of course the local guides were great and fun to be with. But the other big item is the quaint family run hotel, right on the lagoon. The staff is unbelievably helpful, the authentic food is fabulous.
This is also one of the more affordable locations on the Yucatan - all inclusive with shuttle service from Cancun, three meals per day, daily bedding changes and more.
The fishing: This year's trip the fishing was very good. Of course everyday is different, but the size range of the tarpon ran from babies (5lb) to juveniles up to 30lbs. Bigger fish are available during various times of the year offshore.
