SHOPPING DURING HOLIDAY EVENT IN DOWNTOWN DOVER
Just The Thing!的点评
点评：The Dover Chamber of Commerce organized the Downtown Holiday Stroll event that was held Sunday, December 1st. One of the participating businesses that I visited was Just The Thing! to see what was new.
First, I had my customary visit with Poppy, the black-and-white Boston terrier ~ one of the unofficial greeters. I played with Poppy for several minutes. Stella, the other Boston terrier was not interested in playing this time; she was more interested in flopping out on the little dog bed behind the counter and just watching the fun.
For the season, the store was filled with lots of holiday decorations.
One curious item was a group of what appeared to be slats from a picket fence that had been decorated as snowmen ~ white with black or plaid scarves and faces at the tops with oversized carrot noses set off to a right angle. They were all wearing black top hats. I thought they were cute and that using picket fence slats that way was a clever idea. It’s interesting to see how artisans find ways to upcycle found objects or use new items in a way very different from what they were manufactured for.
There was a display of small tabletop Christmas trees that appeared to be made from either the petal-like scales of pine cones or maybe folded paper.
In another area, there was a whole wall display of several clocks in all different styles. Some had a retro look; others appeared to be of more contemporary designs.
On a table, I saw a twin-sized quilt at $29.00.
The red guitar was still hanging on a wall in another nook.
Once again, I enjoyed my visit with the staff and Poppy and looking at the new items for sale.
I maintain my rating of 5.0 on Just The Thing! and highly recommend stopping in.
The reason for the delay in submitting this review was due to a months-long loss of my ability to post photos with my reviews and some health issues that put me very far behind.
