The boats? An unforgettable experience. Cooking class? Mainly of interest for those who love cooking shows.

点评：We went to Vietnam and Cambodia on a conducted group tour, and this was part of our itinerary in Hoi An. The basket boat experience is combined with the cooking class. I am sure every conducted tour of Vietnam will include this, but if it does not, you ought to make sure you experience the basket boats, at the very least. And if you are doing Vietnam on your own, you absolutely MUST get your hotel to organise it for you. The cooking class etc....well....if you are a fan of cooking shows on TV, you might like it, but for those like me who were totally disinterested in cooking, it was a bit of a bore. (you get to eat the food, and that is nice....Vietnamese food is simply delicious!) The basket boats? Each boat has a boatman, who does the hard work of rowing. Each boat can take two passengers, and the boats are literally large baskets (see photos). You go quite a long way through the waterways, and then into a large expanse of water. If you like it, you can get your boatman to spin your boat....he can make it spin at a frighteningly high speed! Hang on tight, you could possibly get thrown off the boat as it spins! It is great fun to watch other boats spinning.....it makes for great videos to show folks back home or to post on social media.
