Stunning venue less than stunning service.
Shilstone House的点评
点评：Lovely environment. A little difficult to get to if you’re not used to the Devon lanes.
Excellent welcome from someone I’ll describe as the more experienced female member of staff. Now I’ll try and summarise our experience. This will be meant as a way of help to improve things at this venue. Booked for lunch, 12pm.
After 10 mins, and although the venue was quite busy, there were also staff members who weren’t overly employed, we had a drinks order taken. I also ordered a bowl of olives. Drinks came but apparently it was too early for olives, the kitchen didn’t open for another 10 mins.
Food arrived in a reasonable time, no issue.
I finished my drink before my meal and wanted another but the usual ‘how’s your meal’ comment didn’t happen. Thankfully the, what I assumed was the manager, passed by and did enquire if things were ok. Drink received and super efficiently.
Gave them 20 minutes after our plates were cleared to receive a dessert menu, didn’t get one, so we paid and left. Yes, we could have asked but I like to feel like we are valued guests. Didn’t really feel it.
2 couples came in while we were there who had booked for specific menus who were nonetheless unable to be helped sufficiently.
I earlier mentioned the female staff member who was lovely but maybe she felt the strain of organising the younger guys? Lot of chatting but not enough action.
I’m not especially affected by the cost of living crisis but I do want value for money and I can’t genuinely recommend this venue.

在我们吃完后，我等了20分钟也没见到甜品菜单，结果始终没拿到。于是我们付了钱就离开了。没错，我们本可以询问一下，但我希望自己能被当作尊贵的客人来对待。不过这种感觉并没有出现。
我们在那儿的时候，又有两对夫妇进来了，他们也提前预订了特定的套餐，但同样没能得到足够的服务。
我之前提到过那位很可爱的女员工，不过或许她承受着安排那些年轻员工工作的压力吧？大家聊得挺多，但实际行动却不够。生活成本危机对我的影响不算大，但我确实希望物有所值，因此实在无法推荐这个场所。
