Major letdown not worth the visit
Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park的点评
点评：I had high hopes for Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, but unfortunately, my experience there was incredibly disappointing. I came looking for a peaceful day outdoors and maybe a bit of history, but left feeling like I completely wasted my time.
To begin with, the lighthouse — which is supposed to be one of the park’s main attractions — was closed, with no clear signage or updates about when it would be open again. That was a huge letdown since it was one of the only reasons I came in the first place. With the lighthouse out of the picture, we figured we’d make the most of it and spend time at the beach instead. Big mistake.
The beach was in awful condition. It was absolutely covered in seaweed, all along the shoreline and even in the shallow water, making it really unpleasant to swim or even walk along the edge. The smell wasn’t great either, and it didn’t seem like anyone had made an effort to clean or maintain the area.
On top of that, the atmosphere just wasn’t comfortable. Let’s just say the vibe wasn’t what I was expecting or looking for — it felt more like a scene for certain social groups than a relaxing public beach for everyone. It was loud, chaotic, and not exactly family-friendly in terms of how people were behaving or dressed. Definitely not what I had in mind when I planned a quiet, scenic beach day.
Overall, I left frustrated and disappointed. Between the closed lighthouse, the unclean beach, and the unpleasant overall vibe, I just can’t recommend this park — at least not based on my experience. Maybe it was just a bad day, but with so many other parks and beaches in Florida, I’d suggest going literally anywhere else.
