点评:I drove down here from Shreveport one Sunday during an extended business trip. There are three places in the park to visit: a restored railroad depot in Natchitoches and two plantations. The depot just recently opened, so the exhibits are still being worked on. But it was neat to see how they have restored the building. I had a nice chat with the ranger there, as my research focuses on the Texas & Pacific Railway that the depot once served. From the depot, you drive south to the two plantations. Oakland Plantation is the first one and is a self-guided experience. The website suggested using the NPS app for your tour, but I don't think the app added anything not on the displays. At Magnolia, ranger Barbara took me around for a guided tour, which was very informative as Magnolia has fewer information signs that Oakland. Be prepared for a lot of walking and driving between all three sites. I went in early September but at a time when it was cooler than normal. Both plantations are well-shaded thankfully.
