点评:We decided to go to Ha Ha Tonka State Park. I had heard some interesting things about it. The Park is rather large with a number of niche areas and a variety of trails. We availed ourselves of a few.
Visitor Center – a small Visitor Center which was mostly administrative offices with a small lobby containing Park information and an information desk. We chatted with a nice woman about the Park.
‘Castle’ Ruins – it’s not a CASTLE (well you knew that). But rather a large mansion built on a hill that had burned. All that’s left are the stone walls. Looks a bit like a castle. The Park docent had given us an overview of the mansion, its history and its fate. It’s a story of riches, tragedy and neglect. Three parts of the Castel are interesting - the Castle itself, the Water Tower and the Stables. We saw all three and were impressed. Outta be a movie.
Natural Bridge – down the way on a boardwalk is a natural bridge. But first, the boardwalk. They’ve done a fine job with the boardwalk. It travels over most of the top of the knoll where the mansion and water tower are. Nice job. So, we walk quite a ways on the boardwalk. At one point it has steps down to a trail. Nice trail. We follow the trail to a level spot going down on both sides. That’s the top of the Bridge. We really couldn’t tell that we were on a bridge. Down below is a trail going under the Bridge. A long way down. So we were satisfied with the top. Good hike.
