点评:An interesting museum, parts of which I personally found a little unsettling. I booked tickets online direct with the museum. I liked that you could go at any time within the morning or afternoon slot rather than a specific fixed time like many other attractions, so it was a little more flexible. The first part of the museum gives interesting information about the monastery and has various artworks and artefacts on display. The second part is the crypt. I could appreciate the artful way that the monks had decorated the rooms with the bones, but also very conscious that there were hundreds of skulls, vertebrae, pelvises attached to the walls, as well as full skeletons in the monks habits. Worth seeing as part of the history of Rome, but it is a bit creepy.
Whilst we were there, several families with small children were visiting. There are child friendly options on the audio tour, but some of the children looked visibly upset in the crypt area. I personally wouldn’t take young children, especially if they are sensitive as I can imagine there were some children who were scared to go to bed that night.
