点评:The arboretum is truly beautiful. I felt like I was walking around in the Jurassic era. The plants are gorgeous, and there are so many birds. It's a wonderful place to visit to experience what native Hawaii would have looked like. Note that it's a rainforest, so expect precipitation. The day I went, it was actually pouring the entire time. I think it's usually more on and off showers than the torrential rain I had, but be prepared with a poncho and either sneakers or hiking shoes. Most of the trails aren't paved. The one thing that they could do better is that the trails aren't very well marked. I was trying to find the cycad garden, but I somehow ended up at the top of inspiration point. I tried 3 times to get to the cycads, but apparently I was somehow going in circles because I ended up at my starting point each time without ever finding the cycads.
There is a small gift shop where you need to sign in. They'll give you a paper map and point out spots of interest. Keep in mind that if it's raining, the map will get destroyed pretty quickly unless you have an umbrella to shield it. The entrance is right next to Manoa Falls, so you can easily check that out before or after your visit. There's also a snack shop not far from Manoa Falls (but outside of the arboretum).
