Good but Incomplete Trip

点评：We booked this through our local tour guide. The trip last an hour and 45 minutes. The first 45 minutes or so were fairly dull. Things picked up when we got to the Equator sign. I thought it was on dry land but it’s currently 4-5 inches under water. We elected to have our photos taken from the boat, as opposed to taking our socks and shoes off and standing in the water.
The wildlife picked up around the Equator sign and nearby islands. We saw a lot of birds and a monitor lizard that was around 4 feet long (see photo). We also saw a family of otters during the trip.
I didn’t realize until later that some of the boat excursions also go to Mabamba Swamp where they often see Shoebills. I wish we had been given that option. It would have made for a much more memorable trip.
Our boat was basic with no roof. If you go you should pack sunscreen, water and a hat. We took insect repellent but didn’t need it.
