点评：I visited because I'm a fan of John Soane and had already visited his house in central London. It was fascinating to see another of his houses. This one doesn't have the charm of all his collected items. While it has few antiquities, it has no distractions from his architectural design and it is just as beautiful. The reception desk lady was welcoming and helpful. The room guides were very friendly, well informed and fascinating, really bringing the place to life. The manor is well kept and benefits from the framing of the small park at the front and the large park, or rather Soane's garden, at the back. I visited on a glorious summer's day when there was a wedding taking place. The guides and receptionist helped me to view the whole place without intruding on the festivities and it was lovely to see how much the local people, from the wedding guests to the people enjoying the sun in the park, benefit from this landmark building. The little cafe-cum-gift shop is classy. The art exhibition space is lovely too. It's easy to find the manor, just alight from the tube at Ealing Broadway, leave the station, turn left and then right; it's just a few minutes' walk. A wonderful place to spend a summer afternoon.
