点评：This is a great place to visit if you are traveling east or westbound interstate 68 near Morgantown, West Virginia. It is great to visit if you don’t have much time as it is less than ten minutes off the interstate however it is best to spend at least a few hours here if not the entire day as there is so much to see. Most attractions are in the south side. This forest is run much like a state park as there are many recreational opportunities such as a large picnic area, flush toilets, playground, gift shop and camping. Cabins are under construction. No lodge. The main overlook, just reconstructed is just off the main parking lot behind the picnic shelter. The parking lot is small and fills early on weekends and holidays. There are two other lots not far away. If you have time explore the hiking trails in the park. Most lead to spectacular rock formations. Pick up a trail map at the gift shop. Our favorites are the Rattlesnake trail, Overlook and Underlook trails and Rock City trail. This area is home to a large population of rattlesnakes and one must exercise caution while hiking. Though many hikers have had encounters we have not seen one in years of hiking there. Rattlesnakes are not aggressive. Just give them space and they usually will go about their way. Copperheads have also been spotted but to a lesser degree. The forest has received a large infusion of cash from the state recently for improvements to infrastructure.
