点评:A true hidden gem (pun intended). This a mineral museum, or to put is simply, a place where they display natural gems and crystals with scientific context.
It's located on the NM Institue of Mining and Technology campus, but it is freely accessible and open to the public. Plenty of parking on the street, and easy access. There is no entry fee, but you can donate of course.
Inside, there are all types of gem and mineral samples on display, from huge man-sized geodes to tiny specimens of rare minerals. The collection is rather large, and well arranged with good lighting. You can take pictures if you like.
I was surprised to see that they sell a small selection of gems and mineral samples. Nothing huge, but a decent selection; these are probably pieces that are not quite good enough for the displays, but still nice. There's usually a student staffing the small sale area.
If you like gems and minerals, or just want to see the beauty of our earth, this place is definitely worth a visit. You can just drop in and spend a few minutes, or stare at things for hours.
