点评:We were camping in Rodanthe and decided to take the day to explore Ocracoke Island. We bought fish and crab at the Ocranoke seafood company, where we also learned about local catches. The oysters and shrimp tacos at the Ocracoke Oyster company were delicious as was the ice cream at the Ice cream company. We found a few nice things at the gift shop along the way. Everyone we encountered was friendly and welcoming. That ended when we stopped to view the lighthouse. We turned around to go back to the visitors parking lot, and a local woman accused us of hitting and breaking a fence. She never saw anything so we went back to double check and confirmed that we didn't break anything. We come from the Berkshires in Western Mass where we welcome 2.5 - 3 million visitors annually, so we know what it's like to see our local communities change as the visitors arrive, but we would never treat them this way. Your local residents are clearly not as welcoming as your businesses, but they need to understand that those businesses thrive on tourism and that their way of life would not exist without them. On one last positive note. As we were leaving the light house, an employee arrived and asked if we wanted to go inside as it was locked. Welcoming indeed!
