Great with all age kids and tracing history and near a good eating spot.
塔斯马尼亚博物馆与美术馆的点评
点评：We visited TMAG with friends from Melbourne and their three kids, who are in town tracing their ancestry. We have been a few times and knew it was great - our friends are staying at MACq 01, just a 2-minute walk away, and had a Waterfront Historical Building Tour included in their hotel package — which they hadn’t done yet but were doing the following day but had heard it was also excellent.
After an excellent convict tour at Hobart Convict Penitentiary, TMAG was the perfect next stop. I find the museum is spacious, beautifully curated, and full of thoughtful exhibitions on Indigenous history, early Hobart settlers, Tasmanian wildlife, and Antarctic exploration. Staff like Luke were incredibly generous with their time. The kids stayed engaged the whole time. Its a real must for those looking at the big timeline of what happened in Tasmania in the past.,
The gift shop is excellent, with a great selection of local books, prints, and Tasmanian-made gifts.
Heads up - between the tour at the penitentiary they grabbed the $12 school holiday deal at Muirs which is a great fish and chip shop on the water front , which deal includes a kids’ meal, drink, and ice cream — great value and a beautiful waterfront setting and is open 7 days. The Pizzas are super large here.
Highly recommend this combination — especially if you’re travelling with kids or exploring family history. And best of all, TMAG is completely free!
