点评:So reading the reviews, maybe some people are a bit unhappy with AGWA. Personally, I think that its pretty wonderful. I did make it to the RONE exhibition in January and also attended some of the PULSE (annual visual arts Year 12 graduates exhibition) and always try to visit every time I hit Perth. There is always the Museum (WA Museum Boola Bardip) not far away at all if you want a hit of historical, or indigenous art and culture. I think having both in the city precinct only a short walk away from a lot of attractions (the train station, Northbridge for instance) brings a particular feeling of vibrancy and energy to this part of Perth. It is free but some exhibitions you have to pay for, they have a cafe, and a great little shop to buy books and ephemera, as well as a rooftop space to have drinks (which I haven't been in yet, so cannot comment).
AGWA is the place to exhibit a wide variety of art and mediums in a way that is accessible to all and everyone is welcomed and encouraged to have a look, walk around and have conversations with others about what they experience.
They always have something to offer in the variety of their exhibitions, even if it's not to your taste. I have enclosed the pictures I have of the RONE exhibition and it was dark for me as well, but once your eyes adjusted (and some areas were darker than others), and your prescence within some of the areas triggered things like light or sounds depending on that area. It certainly was one of the more evocative events I ever went to and I was glad I got there.
The building itself is huge and high ceilings and there is always a friendly staff member that can help you if lost. Being a local landmark, it makes a great place to meet friends or others who may not be familiar with the layout of the city.
I have been many times for many different events and I cannot fathom Perth without AGWA!
