Green Mountains - Box Forest circuit

点评：I visited Green Mountains section of Lamington NP for the 1st time on the Ekka Holiday to do the Box Forest circuit.
I spent some time beforehand checking out O’Reilly’s including the Stinson plane wreck and did the excellent (&free!) Treetops Walk, a series of suspension bridges high in the trees billed as the first/oldest canopy walk in the world (I passed a crimson rosella along the way!).
The Box Forest circuit was beautiful - a trek through a rainforest fairyland with some amazing waterfalls & vegetation. I saw a few people but the walk was mostly secluded given the length.
The actual Box Forest circuit is 10.9km per the signs but I recorded 14.9km on Strava, likely because of the walk from the Green Mountains NP entry point to the start of the circuit along the Border Track takes a few kilometres.
The walk is a waterfall wonderland through ancient Gondwana rainforest with most waterfalls on the 2nd half of the trek (worth the wait!). Darragumai Falls, Nugurin Falls (my personal fave), Elabana Falls & Boxlog Falls were all on display and flowing proudly with the rock hop to the hidden Elbana Falls a nice mini-adventure
Afterwards I had a coffee & yummy vegan burger at the O’Reilly’s Mountain cafe overlooking the mountains while resting my tired legs & trying to keep my food away from the pied currawongs! The staff in the cafe have name badges with their country of origin too - my friendly server was from the UK!
