点评:We had seen an article in an architectural magazine about his winery and also the lodging (which when was yet to open). It won design awards in Arizona and piqued our interest. So when we came to visit relatives in the Phoenix area at the very end of March we made sure to take a detour to stay here one night before returning home to California.
First, the winery/restaurant itself is beautiful! There are a number of bronze colored monoliths that comprise the outside of the winery building. It actually quite resembles Stonehenge or the monolith in the movie “2001 a Space Odyssey”. It is especially stunning at sunset.
We checked into our room (casita) which consisted of a modular trailer. There are two rows of them in an “L” fashion positioned such that each one has privacy as there are only windows (floor to ceiling) on one side. The interior decor is stunning and quite modern; simply beautiful and reminded me a bit of some of the state of the art modern design elements you would find in Japan, for example. The refrigerator was stocked with everything you could want for breakfast including cute little milk bottles and small glass bottles of water. They also provided a basket of fresh fruit, granola, yogurt, cereal, fruit and a mini banana chocolate bread (delicious) from Le Cornucoppia Cafe in Bisbee. They even provided a complimentary mini bottle of one of their wines. We sat on our patio catching the afternoon sunshine and enjoying the scenery.
We did a wine tasting on the restaurant patio in the afternoon overlooking Ruth Mountain (aka the Biscuit) and the vineyard. Later, we had a wonderful dinner at their restaurant where you were made to feel as if you were their only customer of the evening. We chatted at length with Ita, one of the owners, who told us their story. Altogether, the entire experience was phenomenal and we would gladly return here in a heartbeat.
