On December 25, we were greeted nicely by the staff, and was quite surprised that the owner, Greg, sat us down, saying that there had been a complication - that there had been a "double booking," with a 24-pax group - that the elevated villa we booked almost 2 months before the supposed stay had already been occupied. We weren't notified that an issue such as this had been happening already! Instead, we were told that we were to be transferred to a nearby resort "Bolo Sea Coast" (they were very accommodating in every way), to a room which has, according to them, "the same rate" as to what I've originally booked (I paid 7,000 PHP for the elevated villa).
To compensate for the inconvenience, we were offered a free night's stay (for when the elevated villa's unoccupied) in Bolo Hills Club with free breakfast - and at this moment, I was very thankful for the lengths they were willing to go through to have us back. The matter had been handled in a peaceful manner, and both parties had been relieved.
I decided to verify with Bolo Sea Coast whether or not the room is of the same rate as Bolo Hills Club's. The new room was worth 6,000 for bigger pax, but since there were only 3 of us, it was then 4,000. I brought this up to Bolo Hills Club's information desk the next morning, but the owner wasn't around. We were refunded by the receptionist the remaining 3,000, while I requested for some form of a "voucher" to guarantee my next stay's free night, alongside the free breakfast, which I have discussed with the owner the day before.
As we were about to leave, I received a call from said receptionist that the owner, Greg, was then only willing to give 50% of the next stay's supposed free night, with free breakfast - but if the refunded 3,000 were to be returned, the free night offer remains. I told them that they could scratch any "free offers" to be given instead, since I wouldn't bother coming back to their resort anymore.
All issues aside, the resort would've been perfect, but they were really going to lie to us and steal the 3,000 PHP from me and my family when I didn't even receive their service - business really is just business, huh, Sir Greg?
I didn't need their courtesy - it was given for the inconvenience that was in no way my fault. Those free offers were given by your discretion. Honesty, on the other hand, was somehow absent.
I don't know about everyone else, but I personally believe that honesty trumps courtesy. This resort failed to withhold that.
