点评:The surrounding landscape of this trail is gorgeous. This said, the trail is in absolutely horrendous condition and is dangerous. I emphatically do not recommend riding a bike on it and would especially not a road bike.
There are large cracks and bumps, lots of blisters; many are spray-painted with white, but many are not. The unpainted blisters are pretty much invisible. In fact, I had a significant crash on the trail caused, I believe, by hitting one. I was seriously injured and am looking at a couple of months of convalescence. I am an experienced cyclist, and was riding a cross bike with wider knobby tires - they were no match for this trail.
I don’t blame anyone for this, it’s Northern, Minnesota and things get hot and cold, and it causes blistering and cracking in roads and paved trails. I chose to take the risk of riding on the trail, even after I saw it was in such poor shape. The responsibility is mine. I do wish it had been easier to discern the trail conditions ahead of time.
If I ever go on the trail again, it will be by foot.
I’ve ridden it from Duluth to Jay Cooke State Park out and , and from Jay Cooke south to Moose lake, also out and back.
