Awkward to get to, expensive when you do.
塔瑞噶野生动物园的点评
点评：I confess to a feeling of relief arriving just as the school groups were leaving. We were immediately ambushed by an excessively enthusiastic volunteer. (Little did we know there were more volunteers than animals.) ‘Follow the green circle path,’ ours said.
This legendary path is clearly defined around the entry but becomes vague further down. It was a full 20 minutes before we found a place where animals might be: Giraffes in this case. Finally, some action…except there wasn’t any. Food was in place to entice them from their hiding place but to no avail. Viewing spots were packed with disappointed visitors, who had paid the $55 admission. I briefly considered my position under Australian Consumer Law but understood that this wasn’t Ashton’s Circus and my ticket fee was helping feed the inmates. Giraffe food, after all, doesn’t grow on trees.
We quickly discovered why the school groups left. The Chimpanzees were somnambulant, Elephants, Lions, Hippos, (the) Bear and Tortoises were in therapy someplace else. Cafeteria shelves were empty. The Sumatran Tiger earned its keep but wasn’t enough to make a visit to Taronga worthwhile. Awkward to get to, expensive when you do. I’ll go back to not visiting zoos.
