点评:The staff were amazingly helpful from the outset – even before the site was open! The machine for paying for parking was out of order on our arrival (it had been fixed by the time we left) but one gentleman working outside got another staff member who happily supplied a handwritten parking ticket. It got things off to a good start.
We have been visitors quite a few times in the past and have always been impressed by the special exhibitions and we really enjoyed this one. The anniversary of the Pennine Way was celebrated in words and images. We spent quite a long while watching the video and listening to people talking about their experiences of the Way; there were even musical compositions.
Excellent use is made of the limited space inside the old train.
Inside the Museum, in the area representing the lead mines, there was lots of interesting information – from a glimpse into the mystery surrounding a discovered body to folk songs.
The shop is very good with a lot of items that relate to the area.
All in all, this place is well worth a visit.
