点评：I can’t describe in words how much pleasure we got from visiting Maymont and the castle itself and walking around the park grounds. The mansion, recently reopened to the public, was built in 1893 for James and Sally May Dooley is a unique public green space in Richmond, with miles of trails and a beautifully landscaped farm with animals. The mansion is open Thursday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; tickets can be purchased at the park entrance in the small visitor center (10 euros). The mansion is beautiful, with its furnishings, dishes, furniture, and flower arrangements. I felt like I was in one of the most beautiful castles in France. Today, the mansion is a remarkably well-preserved example of Gilded Age luxury and splendor, similar to what can be seen in the TV series of the same name.
Save your energy to explore the entire park, including the farm and, of course, the beautiful gardens, located on different levels and featuring different themes. Start with the Italian garden, closest to the mansion, and then descend along the waterfall to the Japanese garden. Three additional levels of the garden can be seen from the main level: the Secret Garden, the Promenade and the Cascade. The parks are open daily from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and no tickets are required. Admission to the parks and surrounding grounds is free; you can even come every day and explore the vast area at your leisure. Bring a picnic if you'd like, as there is no cafe. Parking is free and available outside the park gates. Don't miss this attraction if you're in Richmond—it's a sight for your eyes and soul.
