点评:A large sprawling nation park most famous for its Pinnacles limestone monoliths but also encompassing sand dunes and beaches. Located around 200 KM north of Perth, we rented a car and headed up to check it out. The drive was part freeway then two-lane state road that follows the coastline straight north. It took just over 2 hours.
We started at the Pinnacles dessert. You pay $A17 per car to enter (cheap). As it was a Monday in late March it was not crowded at all.
The main attraction is the 4 KM drive through the pinnacles. There are numerous places to pull over, stop and get out to take photos and walk around. The bright yellow sand is magical. We were there in the morning so got some decent photos although it is hard to capture the scale and grandeur.
. Note: the drive is on compacted sand with a narrow lane marked by stones. Speed limit is 5KpH.
We spent around 90 minutes exploring on a warm day.
Tip: keep your parking receipt and stop at Yanchep National park if on your way south back to Perth.
We also had a quick stop at Hangover beach-also part of the park and super close to Pinnacles.
