🏔 4-Day Mount Meru Trek & 3-Day Safari Serengeti & Ngorongoro on a Student Budget 🐘

点评：We were a group of six medical students looking for an adventurous yet budget-friendly experience in Tanzania. We hit the jackpot with Proceeding Adventures organized by rafiki yangu mwema Fred! 🥹 We did the 4-day Mount Meru trek followed by a 3-day safari through Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. Here's our honest take:
🏔 Mount Meru (4 Days / 3 Nights)
Highlights:
• Wildlife on foot!
On day one alone, we saw giraffes, warthogs, and buffalo up close as we hiked through Arusha National Park.
• Acclimatization + challenge.
The trek was steep and at times demanding, especially summit day (midnight start, 10–12 hours on your feet!), but totally worth it. Reaching the peak at sunrise felt surreal.
• Views.
From the crater ridge and summit, we caught an unforgettable glimpse of Mount Kilimanjaro floating in the clouds.
• Supportive crew.
Our guides were professional, patient, and encouraging: especially helpful as some of us were first-time high-altitude trekkers. The porters and cooks made sure we were always full, hydrated, and laughing.
Accommodation & food:
• Basic wooden huts with mattresses, but totally sufficient.
• Hot meals with fresh veggies, fruits, and lots of carbs (essential!).
• Clean drinking water was always provided.
• Would we recommend it? 100%. If you're prepping for Kilimanjaro or just want a beautiful, lesser-known trek: Mount Meru is it.
🐘 Part 2: 3-Day Safari (Serengeti & Ngorongoro)
After conquering Mount Meru, we traded hiking boots for binoculars and jumped into a 3-day safari through Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater. The perfect way to unwind and blow our minds with wildlife.
Highlights:
• The Big Five.
We saw lions, elephants, buffalo, and even a black rhino—all in their natural habitat. The only one playing hard to get was the leopard.
• Endless Serengeti.
Watching the golden plains stretch into the horizon felt unreal. We drove past herds of zebras and wildebeest, lion chilling under the trees, and even hyenas across the road.
• Ngorongoro Crater magic.
The morning descent into the crater was chilly but breathtaking. The crater floor is packed with wildlife, including hippos, flamingos, and even a black rhino.
• Camping under the stars.
We stayed at basic campsites right in the parks: yes, we heard wildlife at night! The experience felt real, and exciting.
Accommodation & food:
• Tents were simple but comfortable, with sleeping mats provided.
• All meals were freshly prepared and surprisingly tasty (especially after long days of game drives!).
• Picnic lunches with views of hippo pools? Hamna shida!
10/10 Would Do It Again! ✅
Proceeding Adventures gave us exactly what we needed: adventure, nature, and good vibes - all within a student budget. We couldn’t believe how much we saw in just a few days - and how well taken care of we were the whole time. Highly recommend! If you're a student group or budget traveler looking for something cool but affordable - this is it.

亮点：
• 五大动物。
我们看到了狮子、大象、水牛，甚至还有黑犀牛——它们都生活在自然栖息地。唯一难以捉摸的是豹子。
• 无尽的塞伦盖蒂。
看着金色的平原延伸到地平线，感觉不真实。我们开车经过了成群的斑马和角马，狮子在树下休息，甚至还有鬣狗在马路对面。
• 恩戈罗恩戈罗火山口的魔力。
早上进入火山口时，天气寒冷，但令人叹为观止。火山口底部挤满了野生动物，包括河马、火烈鸟，甚至还有黑犀牛。
• 在星空下露营。
我们住在公园里的基本露营地：是的，我们在晚上听到了野生动物的声音！这种体验感觉很真实，也很刺激。
