Incredibly crowded in December- learn from our mistakes

点评：We did this on December 30th. I hadn’t booked a tour because I figured we could handle it ourselves. Due to some track work on the line we had to take three trains and a bus from Central Station so the journey took over 3 hours each way.
We did do the Hop on Hop off bus which was fine but like everything else that day, very very crowded. Hordes of people were everywhere - 3 people deep at each overlook. Even hiking there was little relief from the crowds.
My children wanted to do Scenic World, the crowds there were unbelievable. Body to body waiting to get on the ‘rides’. We felt like cattle. At the end of the day we scrapped the HOHO bus and just paid for the town bus back to Katoomba for our journey back to Sydney.
The views are beautiful and the day was an adventure but the crowds this time of year were unbelievable.
