Some great local artefacts but the bias of the curators shone through.
There was no mention of the strong influence of English musicians, without which blues would not have been widely known in the USA at all.
Compare this with the BB King Museum in Indianola or the National Blues Museum in St Louis, which both acknowledge the role that British bands of the 60s played in popularising this music.
Here there were a couple of Stones album covers that someone called Sugar Blue played on. Little Red Rooster anybody? OK we’re Brits but come on!
Surprised that there was so much more on Charlie Musselwhite than either BB King or John Lee hooker, who was apparently born in Clarksdale.
