点评:Take the elevator or stairs up to track level on the Metra side of the station.
The museum has large, informative displays on the history of this important railroad location. Much of the focus is on this structure itself - a former interlocking tower.
Past the displays is an impressive wall of the electrical relays that would control the track switches and signals at this large, busy junction. It's neat that they left a big mass of (de-energized) electrical cables hanging down to show how complicated this evolving control site was. Go up the stairs (there's also an accessibility lift) to the upper floor of the tower, where the huge lever machine and track diagram is
You'll also want to gaze out the tower windows at the track "diamonds" where railroads cross each other. For train watching, there's an area just outside where you can see Amtrak, Metra, BNSF, and CN trains roll by.
Friendly and helpful docents will answer your questions.
