点评:For what it is, this is an extremely overpriced attraction. It's not a day out. You can see it all with a leisurely stroll in forty five minutes. It's more like a city centre park.
The price for entry was £21.90 per head. Entry and exit through the gift shop obviously.
(Contrast this with National Trust Cragside which was £27 per head and gets you a 1000 acre woodland with formal gardens, hiking trails, lakes and a tour round the historic house..now that's a full day out)
All the car parks were full and by chance we found a free long stay car park at Howling Lane. It was a nice short walk into the centre of Alnwick.
The one compensation for the gardens being so expensive is that it was relatively quiet compared to the rest of the town, which was absolutely heaving as expected on a sunny Saturday.
Tips:
Free parking at Howling Lane.
£1 parking in town car parks if you buy the parking disc from shops or tourist office.
Plant shop had a good selection and it was accessible without an entry ticket.
