Taylor's Bellfoundry Museum的点评
点评：Womersley handbell ringers had a wonderful afternoon at Taylor’s bell foundry in Loughborough. The museum is well laid out & very informative, reading about the large bells that Taylors have produced for cathedrals and churches up & down the country then seeing the equipment & used to produce them was fascinating. As handbell ringers, it was great to meet the gentleman who recently refurbished our ring of bells & made two new ones for us. A couple of our group also ring tower bells at a local church. For years they only had four of the six bells in safe working order but recently Taylor’s foundry repaired the headstocks & made new wheels. Their work encompasses metal casting, engraving, honing, joinery and leather work all done with great precision. I would especially like to thank our two tour guides; their knowledge & explanation of the processes is outstanding & the videos of the history of the Taylor family & casting process are very illuminating, well produced & just the right length. Overall we had a marvellous afternoon, and recommend the tour of Taylor’s bell foundry to anyone interested in the ancient and unique craftsmanship involved in making and repairing bells.
