点评:On the plus side this museum has some interesting exhibits including Roman tombstones found in the city walls relatively recently. I do like a traditional museum but think this could have benefited from some updating. On arrival there was a chap in the booth but he didn't greet us or offer a suggestion of where to go first. From the central lobby it's not clear what's in each room or whether there is an order to go round in (for future visitors, there isn't). There was a nice art exhibition in one room. The aforementioned Roman stones are a big part of this place, rightly so. Also a large collection of silver, although I would have been more interested in finding out why Chester was an assaying centre. Upstairs natural history - an array of stuffed animals if that's your thing!. My main reason for visiting was the period house - that was okay but could have been a lot better. Finally, a plus is that the museum is free, but they do ask for a donation - fair enough. However it would be a good idea to have a donation box at the exit as well as the entry.
