点评:Having visited all of the historic Shakespeare-related sites and monuments in town, we were ready for a change of pace. This easy, relaxing walk along the riverside was a lovely way to take a breather.
Starting at Bancroft Gardens, you can follow a looped trail down one side of the riverbank, then back up the other. It’s not a long walk and there is a clear path that follows the river.
There’s a lot to see along the way. We stopped to watch canal boats operating the lock and the beautiful big white swans (so many swans!).
Boats passed us by, the historic chain ferry crossed back and forth and as we passed Holy Trinity Church, wedding bells rang out across the water. It was all very scenic.
Just past the church, we crossed a small footbridge (Lucy’s Mill Bridge) which meant that we could walk back up the other side of the river to return back to Bancroft Gardens.
It doesn’t really matter which side you start on but we started on the Gower Memorial side which meant that when we walked back on the other side, we passed by The Dirty Duck (Black Swan) and we were ready to stop for a drink by then.
