点评:I've been visiting WGP for about 50 years. It has sadly become something of a theme park in recent years. The Crown Estate run it for profit so want inclusivity, I understand that. I regularly collect and dispose of empty coffee cups. The Estate want the coffee income but don't provide enough bins, nor do they appear to employ litter pickers. The latest was at the Cow Pond this weekend... there are zero bins! Just one would do it.
They've closed the central car park near the Guards club since covid. This makes it a very long walk to the Dukes Lane area where very few will now venture. This is by design.
It can be seen from the last stormy episode, that they closed of most of the park but Saville and the cafe at Virginia Water had the car parks open... so the Estate can keep the tills chinging!
Yes, it's several thousand acres but most of these are private so you can't walk on them. All the wild nature has been removed from the public areas of WGP and I think that's sad.
Dog owners are mainly those who walk small dogs on leads, and many are offended by gundogs doing what God intended. Absolutely avoid this place at weekends, unless it's raining. If it's fine weather give Chobham Common a look, it's beautiful and still wild.
