点评:A stunning Jacobean house with beautifully preserved woodwork and original furniture. Unfortunately, there was not much information available about the history of the house and the family (at least in comparison to other National Trust houses I've visited). I enjoyed reading about Rachel Kay-Shuttleworth and her textiles collection, but didn't come away with much knowledge about the other Shuttleworths.
The grounds are very spacious and ideal for those who enjoy walking. I would give the walled garden a miss as it was very overgrown and lacking in flowers, probably due to the season. There is also no tearoom which was disappointing.
Overall, Gawthorpe Hall is definitely worth a visit for the beautiful Jacobean design, but not the most impressive historic house in the area.
